  • Still. No dynamic shadows of the enemies or even yourself..

  • cyberpunk 2077 tech team could have taken notes how to run in old platforms XD

  • I'm on a one s, doom 2016 has some pop in on the weapons mostly, by pretty solid, little bit of clipping. Doom-eternal though? From my roughly 20 hours with it I've seen nopop in,no clipping, no glitches during glory kills, none of that. It really is incredible. I'd tech 7 is some next level shit just like a few of it's former models.

  • "the foundry was my favorite map in doom 2016" channel name checks out

  • Doom 2016 and Eternal are like the original, they'll run on any machine. Unlike Doom 3. In 20 years, it will be running on holographic smart watches.

  • bethesda should just ditch the 24 year old creation engine and just use idtech

  • oh my god, 16:37 xbox one s image quality looks like melted plastic..

  • Great review!! Iove learning about the engine and a company that cares about optimizations

  • omfg video legit started buffering when the wireframe was shown. I don't even have doom eternal but my pc is so scared of it, it doesn't even want to watch a video.

  • What a brilliant game, I guess stadia is very playable after beating this game on hard difficulty, wish you could have included it in your review.

  • Really great game and sexy engine, looks amazing and can run at 4k Ultra on ma trusty ol' 1080ti

  • damn the xbox one version looks like the switch version

  • What software is being used here for editing?

  • Microsoft is gonna license the shit out of this engine...

  • I really want to know if the next Doom will be MS Exclusive since MS bought Bethesda. Would be a big Thing for Xbox. And i hope the „Nextgen“ Patch for XSX and PS5 comes soon. I love Doom, but Eternal is to fast and hectic for , dont like the constant Jumping and Climbing. Im always tired after 30 Minutes 😊

  • I was disapointed with the lastest doom, no were near as good as 2016 , That floor is lava gameplay just ruined it for me.

  • Here's why Cyberpunk 2077 shouldn't look so shit on last gen consoles.

    • Fr lmaooo

  • It seems to me that great tools make great games

  • switch version review? when?

  • The flexibility of the engine really shines now that the switch port is out. And it actually runs really good for relatively low end hardware. Doom Eternal is now on every single gaming platform.

  • Bro I recommend Stadia version. It has a fantastic graphic and always 60 frames.

  • id should release the engin so we can make maps but they became corporation sellout cringe after zinamax bought them

  • You should do a analysis on the switch version. It's crazy how they got the game on a 7 watt tablet!

  • Why any this technology be used in many other games???

  • I've never played this game on anything less than Ultraviolence... so it was stressful watching this guy hookshot himself right into heavy demons. Playing this game on nightmare is so ridiculously fun, especially the Slayer gates. They should open up the Ripatorium to allow custom scenarios, or open Slayer gate Arenas for the same thing. Entering a Slayer gate and being greeted with 2 Cyberdemons at once was probably the most exhilarating and fun moment I've had in recent gaming history. It's the only game I've ever played where I laughed maniacally if I died, because it was so much fun getting there.

  • Its an impressive looking game. Too bad its often too hectic to be enjoyed. The Master Levels and dlc for eternal are over saturated with frenetic difficulty.

  • Now I see why Nvidia used this game for the 3080 announcement video.

  • waiting for the Switch version

  • This is such a good video on doom eternal! Thanks Since cp2077 got fucked, I have gained a deeper appreciation for games that did it right. And frankly, i had no idea that eternal is so damn good looking and smooth running on high end pc. Definitely will buy it and rip'n'tear about! Need new uber pc but I am saving up. 🥰 Thanks again!

  • Now that the Switch version is out, do you think you might do a video comparing it to both the PC, PS4, and Xbox version as well as Switch 2016?

  • I hope cdpr sees this lol

  • I give this game 9 out of 10 they did better them the first one

  • Doom Eternal Nintendo Switch analysis please.

  • Um at 3:33 that’s still on earth it’s just in the northern region

  • I'm here again after Cyberpunk 2077 release

    • Ikr best part is when people be like "oh Cyberpunk is too ambitious for ps4 and xbox one" no they didn't optimize their game across all platforms including PC. Doom eternal runs better on all platforms at launch crazy right xd ppl dumb as shit for thinking devs can't get game running well on consoles

  • why did they never did a performance, full tech, pc, or anything with doom after this video when?

  • 7 months later: Cyberpunk 2077 sucks ass.

  • Game looks amazing, but I think Unreal Engine 4 includes most of those features for a while, or am I mistaken?

  • If only cyberpunk 2077's engine was as optimised as this game.

    • @Sharath V witcher 3 ran like compelete ass on my PC which was high end by 2015's standard

    • @Sharath V I can say as well, witcher 3 on console is also dog shit compared to how it runs on PC but even then it can be better across the board

    • it's far from optimized

    • @Sharath V it ran terrible

    • @Corey doyle I never owned a console. pc gamer here. I played tw3 on a old system but was still good.

  • game devs: "Who even already uses Vulkan on Desktop these days?" ID-software: "Ahem... gentlemen..."

  • Switch version pls

  • Switch vid taking forever.

  • quake champion lobby music nice

  • Whay is it with John and using classic gun pose. Idk it really bugs me for some reason.

  • "Other dimensions" Pauses to show a level that takes place on Earth

  • Now that Microsoft will own Zenimax and in extension Id, the chances of Vulkan support look slim and mostly be replaced with DirectShit 12. If Microsoft decide to allow the next Doom be on PS5 and the next Switch there is a high chance that they will be sandbagged in order to make the XBox Series S and X look much better as well as prevent Linux support etc. Also how much performance improvment would there be if Id is forced to use DirectX 12 compared to them using Vulkan?

  • Imagine Cyberpunk made using this engine

  • id Tech 7 is better than Unreal Engine 5 imo

  • Imagine how good id tech 8 will look on the ps5 and series x

    • @Oscar Féliz aren't zenimax owned studios the only ones who can use the heavily modified id tech engines?

    • PS5? This tech belongs to MS now.

  • Looking forward to a switch analysis of this game now. Hurry up DF :)

  • really looks like the woman from metroid.

  • I love doom! Well done Id! You guys rock

  • Go to 14:28 to hear “the proof is in the pudding”

  • Doom 3 is so much better than Doom 2016 or Doom Eternal

  • Does this have a next gen patch?

    • No, but they should push the game up to their highest dynamic resolution with little drops from that.

  • id tech please takeover halo series as well🙏

  • I have to be frank but digital foundry is best when coming to reviews. They don't give hollow reviews or thrash game companies. They go deep knee into technical area of game and game engine. And if there is some problem they point out in a mature way by providing fitting solution. Example - halo infinite gameplay. You have my respect digital foundry.

  • Halo infinite looks like this game with the Geodecals turned off completely

  • Microsoft Bought Zenimax, so they Own Id-Software and Bethesda. I wonder how this Engine could be used for something like Halo, it could be incredible.

  • In id Software we trust, I pray only to Marty Stratton

  • It looks like a blurry mess on X1 but thankfully nobody bought that console.

  • The only thing I don't like is it doesn't have left trigger ADS

  • I can't wait to test it on the new consoles!

  • My GTX 1050TI : Barely runs red dead redemption at 30fps Also My GTX 1050TI : Runs Doom Eternal at 200 fps

  • I started to experience some problems after the last update. The game run on high/ultra on gtx 1060 with about 90-100 fps. Now it can drop even to 40s on low. What's the reason?

  • I hope Bethesda should use Id Tech for future game titles such as Fallout 5 and Starfield, instead of their outdated buggy Creation Engine.

  • The environments in this game are breathtaking - amazing design/texture/lighting work.

  • iD tech engines have some of the best g/free sync games out there. Really wish more games were developed on the tech.

  • There is nothing like playing an optimized game like this on a PC you built yourself. The sense of satisfaction one gets at seeing visuals like this at well over 100 fps on a graphics setting called Ultra Nightmare cannot be overstated! id truly made a masterpiece here for the PC enthusiast who has been playing DOOM since the beginning.

  • I wonder how well that would run on mobile.

    • @Nick Motsarsky Its Tegra seems pretty decent even though underclocked. And Switch runs Crysis after all!

    • Better than it will run on the Switch..

  • look, im just gonna say this, if you showed a screenshot of any of the gameplay in here at 1994, people will either say it's fake, or have an orgasm.

  • Most of the waiting on PS4 Pro happens while connecting to the server.

  • Average Gamer: I love the shooting, killing, non stop action!! Digital Foundry: Pixels....

  • I'm not saying that John Carmack engines were not good, but idtech 7 is completely non carmack engine and it is the best of a lot. It is almost perfect engine, fully optimized across all platforms. They've really outdone themselves, the is flawless and engine is one of the best in industry.

  • Xbox one s getting 900p My PC getting 520p.

    • @Powerful Aura I don’t actually know what resolution I get. I did set my game to render at half of 1080p, and I get around 40fps when I’m lucky. Intel core i5-4570 3.20Ghz 4 core Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti

    • What are your specs?

  • Such a gorgeous game

  • From a technical standpoint Doom Eternal is pretty much a next gen game running on current gen hardware

    • @Nick Motsarsky That could be if they push 4k. The hardware could very likely be able to handle 1440p/high/rtx at 120fps or at least in the 90fps range

    • @The Real JSK Ray Tracing is so demanding, that there's no way they will hit 120fps with it. I see a locked 4K/60/Ultra/Ray Tracing.

    • @Nick Motsarsky Ray tracing and higher framerate probably. The engine is so well opitimised I think this will be one of the first games to hit 120fps with ray tracing on the new consoles

    • Can't wait to see how it's enhanced on the new consoles..

  • This was only possibly because they are still using a engine that the multi dimensional being known as John Carmack made for Rage. The man could make a engine. They have just built off his work.

  • A game reaching 500fps doesnt tax the system enough - they could have pushed it so much more.

    • Uh, yeah, at 720p and lowest settings..

  • Boy, sure would be a shame if those dev tools leaked to someone commenting on a video that's showing them off...

  • It looks a lot like Starfield at 3:28

  • Just got around to this as it came to Xbox Game Pass recently. My gawd is this one of the best looking games* I’ve seen on Xbox one X.

    • @Oo oO I'd say if anyone is getting the Series X, delay playing this game until then.

    • Damn I need to get it...

  • What about Switch?

  • Can i beat Lowspecgamer?

  • Games using the ID tech engine look cartoony

  • Watch non-hdr monitor: Nice hdr effects!

  • if only they cared about art direction

  • lol xbox owns this engine now

    • The problem with Microsoft owning it now, is that they might make them scrap Vulkan for shitty DirectX and Vulkan is pretty core to what makes this engine such a masterpiece

    • @DoubleM sorry, he publicly did and I have posted a link. It's been discussed everywhere, IGN, Polygon, Kotaku. No matter how much you wished it isn't true, it's a fact x

    • @Fabio Loureiro da Silva Lima No he didn't say shit about any of Bethesda games going any where yet. They still don't own until February or March.

    • @Fabio Loureiro da Silva Lima we'll see. It makes no difference to me, but I just don't think Microsoft will allow the next Elder Scrolls or Fallout to be on ps5

    • @Brendan Phil Spencer said it so himself, it was reported on every big outlet. No amount of butthurt salt will change the facts ;)

  • this game is complete and utter garbage.

    • Michelle Phillips wtf are you saying. You’re probably a fortnite noob

  • Can it be that it looks so good because it doesn't have that jumping screen every game has when your character moves? In Doom games you GLIDE and that makes the difference for me anyways.

  • hehehehehehehe it is microsoft's technology now

  • Wait, I'm dumbfounded, I have a ps4 slim, can it run Doom Eternal at 60fps or would it get locked at 30fps? I'm also new to the console world and I think I heard and read somewhere that the slim is capped or locked to run games at only 30fps. Aaaand, I've also read somewhere that there are games that you can run at 60fps on a slim. *visible confusion*

    • @Imagine Wagons 60

    • Better than 30fps right? Been playing tons of 30fps games lately and I just want to refresh my eyes. Thanks guys!

    • All PS4s run this game at 60 FPS. It may not be consistent depending on if you're playing on PS4 or PS4 Slim though.

    • Lester Walit Ps4 slim runs rhis game at 60 fps

  • Now that ms owns id... they should give halo ip to them and shut 343i...

  • Masterpiece!

  • my gamepass boiis wya

    • 🔥🔥🤭

    • @Sean doom eternal is already on gamepass it was coming to gamepass before Microsoft acquired zenimax

    • I'm looking forward to the Zenimax/Bethesda family of games coming to GamePass (both the already released games and getting new ones on release day). But I bought Doom Eternal day 1 on Steam, knew I would love it and I was right :P But yeah I've been sub'd to GamePass PC since it released and it's paid for its self every month. Having all the Zenimax/Bethesda studios and their IP's on GamePass and releasing day 1 bumps the value even more.

  • Can’t wait to play the next doom on ps5 🤣

  • Free on Gamepass Oct 1! Now that it’s a Microsoft owned IP it’s pretty much a guarantee that we’ll get an Xbox Series X optimized version

    • 4k 120fps would be awesome for xbox players. It was an amazing experience on PC on an ultra-wide monitor and 144fps+

  • Whos here because doom eternal is coming to Xbox gamepass 😄❤

  • Bethesda should use this engine instead of creation Engine,

  • Why doesn't Bethesda have id software have them help optimise or atleast oversee their games before being released!
